Lives are Good
Lives are Good
Terasem Movement, Inc. is a 501c3 not-for-profit charity endowed for the purpose of educating the public on the practicality and necessity of greatly extending human life, consistent with diversity and unity, via geoethical nanotechnology and personal cyberconsciousness, concentrating in particular on facilitating revivals from biostasis. The Movement focuses on preserving, evoking, reviving and downloading human consciousness.
Terasem accomplishes its objectives by convening publicly accessible symposia, publishing explanatory analyses, conducting demonstration projects, issuing grants and encouraging public belief in a positive technologically-based future.
Terasem Movement was formed in 2002. A sister organization, the Terasem Movement Foundation, was formed in 2004.
The founders of Terasem are concerned that the potential of nanotechnology and cyberconsciousness for relieving human suffering and extending human life will be truncated due to unwarranted fears and concerns. They are also concerned, however, that nanotechnology and cyberconsciousness could be made available only to an elite, or in a manner that creates class divisions within society. The founders believe that nanotechnology and cyberconsciousness needs to be developed consistently with full respect for diversity and unity so that the potential for greatly extending human life and relieving human suffering can be realized.
The Terasem Movement is funded with an endowment from its founders. Terasem does not seek or solicit outside financial contributions. It is managed by the founders based on advice from experts in the fields of nanotechnology and cyberconsciousness.
The symbols on the flag represent the values of Terasem, as expressed in The Truths of Terasem.
The dotted circles symbolize 'Accountability'; self-accountability to surrounding Terasem centers of critical consciousness.
The blood-red infinity sign symbolizes 'Embracing diversity'; infinite diversity within a common biological heritage.
The digital (Morse Code) spelling of 'joy' symbolizes 'Respect autonomy'; consciousness transcends biology and technology.
The sky-blue background symbolizes 'Talk openly'; translucence of clear atmosphere and deep space.
The number and size of the dotted circles symbolizes 'Help others'; we grow with assistance.
The multi-dimensionality of the infinity sign symbolizes 'Always be open'; realities are part of larger realities.

Program Description
Terasem Movement provides a limited number of grants to help institutions and organizations secure improvement support for their research programs and resources. Terasem does not receive any goods, services, funds or benefit in return for providing the grant.
Eligible Applicants
Any U.S. nonprofit organization working wholly or in part in the area of diversity, unity, and joyful immortality via geoethical nanotechnology and personal cyberconsciousness may apply for a grant. Applicants are required to provide documentation of their tax exempt status, including their tax exempt identification number.
Organizations are permitted to apply for and hold only one Terasem Movement grant at a time, but they are eligible to apply for subsequent grants one year from the time the initial grant was offered.
Activities Supported
Grants most commonly augment or establish research that advances one of the following areas: geoethical nanotechnology, personal cyberconsciousness, or biostasis revival.
Terasem will evaluate grant applicants on the extent to which (1) the work proposed to be funded furthers a practical immortality that is joyful as opposed to merely technical, (2) the work to be funded implements such immortality via geoethical nanotechnology and/or personal cyberconsciousness, (3) the work to be funded specifically contemplates the promotion of cognitive and substrate diversity as a core value, and (4) the work to be funded specifically contemplates the promotion of broad-based unity as a core value.
Applications will be evaluated 20% on each of these four factors, plus 20% on overall presentation and integrity.
Amount of Award
Successful candidates will be offered one annual grant up to the amount of $1000 US Dollars per grantee. A higher grant amount is permitted only upon approval by the Board of Directors. The requested grant amount should be appropriate to the needs and capacity of the institution.
Please note that overhead, indirect costs, or administrative charges are not allowed on any grants.
